DIY Framed Spooky Ribbon Ghosts

Create a playful yet slightly spooky ghost family using a little ribbon and glue - then take it to the next level with a classic black wooden picture frame. This craft is perfect for adding a whimsical Halloween touch to your home, with ribbon ghosts floating inside the frame. The best part? You can customize each ghost with fun accessories, making it a great craft for the whole family.

Materials:

  • • Black or Orange Picture Frame
  • • White ribbon or yarn
  • • Black Buttons or felt circles
  • • colored ribbon for accessories
  • • Glue
  • • Scissors
  • • Double-sided foam tape (for a 3D effect)

Instructions:

  1. 1. Create the Ghosts: Cut strips of white ribbon (or yarn) to form the bodies of your ghosts. Vary the lengths to create a "family" of different-sized ghosts. If you're having trouble arranging the ribbons in a way you like try cutting an oval shape out of felt to be the head and glue the ribbons into place on it.
  2. 2. Add Eyes: Cut small circles from black felt or use black buttons for the eyes, and glue them onto the top of each ghost.
  3. 3. Arrange the Ghosts Once you have your ghost family ready, use glue to hold the bodies in place. You can also use double-sided foam tape to attach them to the frame's backing to give the ghosts a slight 3D effect, making them look like they’re floating inside the frame.
  4. 4. Add Other Accessories: If you'd like to add a touch of personality, tie tiny bow ties around some of the ghosts’ necks using colored ribbon. You can get really creative - we added a small leaf to look like a hair bow on one of ours.
  5. 5. Frame and Hang: pop the backing into your black Frametolia frame and hang your ghost family on the wall. This whimsical ghostly display will add a fun, spooky vibe to your Halloween décor.

DIY Framed Felt Haunted House

Framed Felt Haunted Houses capture the eerie essence of Halloween night with accents like bats, glowing windows, and a ghost flying through the night sky. It’s a great addition to any wall and is easy to customize with your own choice of spooky elements. Felt is an affordable material, and easy to use, which makes this a great family-friendly DIY craft.

Materials:

  • • Black or Orange Picture Frame
  • • Felt in various colors (black, purple, yellow, orange)
  • • Scissors
  • • Glue
  • • Wood Pencil
  • • Fabric, paper or felt for the background

Instructions:

  1. 1. Draw the desired shapes on your felt with a pencil. We stuck to a haunted house, windows, pumpkins, a ghost, bats, and a moon. Once you're happy with the shapes cut them out with standard scissors.
  2. 2. Arrange the shapes. Since the haunted house is the biggest piece it tends to be best in the center. Then you can add bats flying around it, pumpkins on the ground, and other accents like fences or trees.
  3. 3. Once arranged, glue the felt pieces securely to your background. For the background you can use a piece of felt, cardstock, or even fabric, anything flat will work!
  4. 4. Place it in your black or orange frame for a Halloween piece that pops with color and personality.

Halloween Gallery Wall with Orange and Black Frames

For a bigger statement this Halloween, create an entire gallery wall featuring a mix of orange and black frames. This is a stylish and easy way to transform a blank wall into a Halloween centerpiece, allowing you to display various themed crafts, eerie photos, or even spooky quotes.

Steps for Creating a Halloween Gallery Wall:

  1. 1. Select Frames: Choose an assortment of orange and black frames in varying sizes to create visual interest.
  2. 2. Curate Your Wall: Display a mix of photos, artwork, and DIY crafts. Some ideas include: Halloween quotes, framed pictures of past Halloweens and fall or Halloween themed art.
  3. 3. Arrange on Wall: Lay out your frames on the floor first to find the right arrangement, then hang them up. Consider an asymmetrical layout to give it a more casual, artistic feel. If you're having trouble deciding how to position the frames try tracing the frames onto paper, then cut the paper and tape them to the wall in your pattern of choice. This will give you a visual of the arrangement before putting any holes in the wall!
  4. 4. Personalize it: Did you make any of the above fun DIYs? Add them in! You can also add small Halloween themed items like string lights, mini pumpkins, or cobwebs around the gallery to make it pop.

Choosing the Right Frames for Your Gallery Wall

When selecting frames for your Halloween gallery wall, it’s important to choose the right type of frame to match the mood you want to create. For a sleek, modern look, opt for clean-lined black frames that bring a bold, dramatic contrast to your wall. If you want a vintage, haunted mansion feel, try ornate frames with intricate carvings in black or antique gold. Frametolia’s selection includes a variety of styles, from minimalistic wood frames to more decorative designs, ensuring you’ll find the perfect match for your décor. Mixing different frame styles—such as pairing simple black frames with textured orange ones—adds visual depth and creates a dynamic, eclectic display.

Choosing Art Prints for a Halloween Gallery Wall

To complement your spooky frames, consider art prints that evoke the eerie beauty of fall and Halloween. For a more refined, somber look, choose autumnal photography with moody lighting, like fog-covered forests, old cemeteries, or barren tree branches. These pieces will give your gallery wall a sophisticated, atmospheric vibe. If you prefer something more playful or a classic Halloween-theme, go for vintage-inspired prints featuring witches, black cats, crows, jack-o-lanterns, or haunted houses. Mixing seasonal photography with traditional Halloween artwork can help balance your gallery wall with both elegance and festive charm, perfect for setting the right tone for the spooky season.
